PLC may be your right choice for learning about organic agriculture, permaculture or volunteering your services for the promotion of sustainable agriculture practices as well as in community development or conduct research on topic your of interest.
1. Learning: If you are interested to learn some more about organic agriculture, permaculture or sustainable agriculture, you can visit PLC. If you are keen to spent number of days of couple of weeks or even longer. Following the principle ‘Learning by doing and seeing is believing’ you will enjoy and learn much more than expected. You are requested to contribute for your food and time resource used for describing the features at PLC.
2. Volunteering: If you are interested in volunteering in Nepal, PLC provides opportunity for national as well as international volunteers. For any volunteers, there is opportunity to stay at the PLC or with other community hosts. As mentioned above, PLC is a family managed farm, not a project or business. Therefore, to be very hones, volunteers are kindly requested to share for their food items and the extra resources that they used like telephone, communication, fuel for transportation in nominal rate so that PLC could continue this opportunity for numbers volunteers in days to come. In fact, this will be some sort of agro-eco-tourism. Following are some:
I. Organic agriculture and Permaculture: If you are new but interested in volunteering in permaculture, you can work together with the family members in and around the farm. If you are an expert or an experienced on sustainable agriculture practices or permaculture, you will be free to introduce the technology or upgrade the technology through trials, trainings and demonstrations. If you are interested in research, you can use the available resources.
II. Teaching: If you are interested teaching, you will get opportunity to teach in a government school nearby the PLC. You can teach English, Mathematics, Science, Art, Music and alike subjects. There is also another opportunity to get highest satisfaction through playing with and teaching life skills to mentally retarded children.
III. Community Development: There is opportunity to engage you in different community development activities like school building construction, community health care and awareness, community sanitation, environment protection, tree-plantation, improved cooking stoves and so on.
IV. Self help group and cooperative: You will enjoy empowering the self help groups and farmers cooperatives through sharing the idea you have, assisting them to keep records, encouraging them for small scale farm business.
3. Research: PLC is an opportunity for any researchers interested on technical or social aspect of organic agriculture. You can find adequate guidance and support while conducting the research activities. Before conducting any research activities at PLC, researchers are requested to share their research plan and receive agreement of PLC on it. PLC appreciates researchers of practical importance. Researchers are asked to make a payment of used resources of PLC.
